Decorative Doors, Tables and Wall Sculptures The beginning of my journey into altar cross design was fortuitous. I met a woman at the Cincinnati Summer Fair who loved my wood art. The members of her church congregation wanted to commission a free-standing cross for the various worship areas of the church. I began a lengthy dialogue with the spokesperson about the design and materials of the cross. He mentioned his love of Celtic crosses, so I researched their history. I incorporated elements of a traditional Celtic cross into my design. After a few drawings and conversations about materials, dimensions, design and price we came up with the right cross for Jim and his congregation. You can see from the results that the cross complements their traditional altar as well as the contemporary service.
This is what the client said to me about the cross installation: “Everything went well on Sunday. There were a “boatload” of wonderful comments about how beautiful the cross is. Everyone liked the design and the craftsmanship. Thank you again for your willingness to work with me in making this cross. It is a beautiful gift to the church which gives honor to God and a fitting memorial to my wife, Maria.”
All crosses are custom designed and constructed with materials chosen by the client: types of wood, glass, metal, or ceramic. Enjoy the creative process by participating in the design of an altar cross that can transform any area of your facility into a beautiful area of worship.
